Our Story
Mika
I have been involved in animal rescues for many years. It has always been my passion to help as many animals as I can. I have previously been co-founders of two local rescues and now have started Mika’s Mutts Dog Rescue on my own. A new year and a new beginning. The rescue is named after our dog Mika who came from Romania to the UK so she could have a better life. Mika had to have her eye removed when she was in Romania, but needed it done again when she arrived in the UK due to an infection in the socket.
Our aim is to help as many dogs as we can. We know dogs come into rescue for a number of reasons. This may be due to neglect, abandonment or even just because an owners situation has changed and they can no longer keep their dog. We hope to offer as many of these dogs a lifeline and find them a loving forever home. All dogs will be neutered/spayed and if too young at the time they go to their new home, the new owners will need to be prepared to sign a spay/neutering contract. No healthy dog is ever destroyed. If an adopted dog struggles with behaviour issues we will put you in touch with a behaviourist.
Homechecks will be carried out, and our adoption fees are: £350. Should for any reason a dog need to come back we offer RBU.
All fees and donations go towards vets bills, food, toys and other essentials for our foster dogs. This will also go towards any time we need to use a boarding kennel, but this is only as a last resort. We are a not for profit organisation and nobody takes a wage. We rely on public support so donations are always gratefully received.
Based in Thanet Kent. We only home in the Thanet or surrounding Areas.
Just to clarify: CT AREA is Thanet and surrounding areas. If a dogs profile states CT area only, then that is what it means.
If we have a dog that as long as the right environment is found then we will possibly venture further afield to get that special home but only a possibility after application forms are filled in for said dog and a home visit offered.
If you see any dog you may be interested in and want to apply then please send an email address and I will send you an application form.
Not all applicants will be lucky as we will go through them and see which applicant best suits the dogs needs. We would then offer a home visit.
Unfortunately we cannot please everyone!
